Why Do We Get Goosebumps?
"Why do tiny bumps appear on our skin sometimes?"
💡 Simple Explanation
Goosebumps are left over from when our ancestors were covered in fur! When you get cold or scared, tiny muscles at the base of each hair pull tight, making the hair stand up and your skin bump out. For furry animals, this traps warm air close to their body or makes them look bigger to scare enemies. We don't have much hair anymore, but we still have those tiny muscles, so we still get goosebumps! It's like a message from the past.
🎉 Fun Fact!
Goosebumps are named after geese because plucked goose skin looks bumpy just like our skin does!
