Why Do Volcanoes Erupt?
"What makes volcanoes explode?"
💡 Simple Explanation
Deep under the Earth, it's so hot that rock melts into a thick goo called magma. This hot magma wants to rise up because it's lighter than the solid rock around it - like how a bubble floats up in water. When magma finds a crack or weak spot, it pushes its way up. Gases in the magma expand as it rises, building pressure like shaking a soda bottle. When it bursts through the surface - BOOM! That's an eruption. The magma is now called lava!
🎉 Fun Fact!
There are volcanoes on other planets too! Mars has the biggest volcano in the solar system.
