How Do Elevators Work?
"How does an elevator go up and down?"
💡 Simple Explanation
An elevator is like a box on a really strong rope! At the top of the elevator shaft is a big wheel that the rope wraps around. On the other end of the rope is a heavy weight called a counterweight - it weighs almost the same as the elevator with people in it. This makes it easier to lift because the weights balance out. A motor turns the wheel to pull the elevator up or let it down slowly. It's like a seesaw but going up and down!
🎉 Fun Fact!
The fastest elevator in the world goes 47 miles per hour - you'd reach the top floor in seconds!
