Why Is Space Dark?

"If there are so many stars, why is space black?"

💡 Simple Explanation

Space is like a huge empty room with scattered flashlights. On Earth, the sky is blue because air bounces sunlight everywhere. But space has almost nothing in it - no air, no dust, nothing to bounce light around! So you only see light if you look directly at a star. The spaces between stars stay pitch black. Also, the universe is SO big that light from super far away stars hasn't even reached us yet!

🎉 Fun Fact!

Space isn't completely silent - there are radio waves from stars and galaxies, but we can't hear them!
