What Are Shooting Stars?
"What makes bright streaks across the night sky?"
💡 Simple Explanation
Shooting stars aren't actually stars at all! They're tiny pieces of space rock (some smaller than a pea!) that zoom into Earth's air bubble. They're going SO fast that the air rubs against them and makes them glow super hot - like rubbing your hands together but a million times faster! This makes a bright streak across the sky. Most of them burn up completely before they reach the ground.
🎉 Fun Fact!
About 48 tons of space stuff falls to Earth every single day - most of it as tiny dust!
